Cara Harbstreet, MS, RD, LD is the owner of Street Smart Nutrition. What began as a creative outlet on social media has blossomed into a successful business that has allowed her to transition to a full-time private practice as of summer 2017. She currently provides nutrition counseling services in the Kansas City area, as well as consulting and freelancing for local, regional, and national partnerships. She credits networking, building relationships, and professional development as keys to allowing her to step away from a corporate position.
Prior to making the switch, Cara worked in community nutrition and as an outpatient clinical dietitian specializing in pediatric diabetes. In early 2017 she was honored as the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has served on the KSAND Board since 2015 and is serving as this year’s CPI-Chair Elect. She is also an active volunteer with the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness DPG. She will begin a three-year term as Communications Director beginning in 2018.
